Comms-care’s Partner Golf Day finishes above par

Comms-care’s Partner Golf Day finishes above parComms-care, the strategic support services partner to the IT channel community, once again welcomed its partners to the prestigious 2010 Ryder Cup golf course for the annual Comms-care Partner Golf Day.

Held at Celtic Manor for the fourth year running, Comms-care’s Partner Golf Day was a great success for all of the partners who attended, and the atmosphere was filled with friendly competitive banter from the off.

All golfers were welcomed into the Samuel Ryder Suite for breakfast and team introductions before being shown to the driving range to meet a special guest. Comms-care called in ex-professional golfer, Geoff Swain, to motivate and entertain the teams with a range of trick shots before tee off. From volleying golf balls to a comically oversized club, Geoff showed off his skills, involving the teams with some very entertaining golf shots.

Equipped with extra balls for the water hazards, the teams began teeing off at 10.50am.. The course, made famous by Europe’s famous 2010 Ryder Cup victory, lived up to the usual high standards you come to expect from Celtic Manor Resort.  Each of the teams was greeted with cheers and beers from the gallery on the 18th hole by Comms-care staff and partners.

Once the golf came to a close a beautiful 3-course evening meal was presented in the Samuel Ryder suite, overlooking the 18th green, accompanied by a small awards ceremony for the winners of the day. Prizes were given out to the winning team, which included Mark O’Keefe, Phil Cole and Dave Sephton from Ricoh and their team captain, Comms-care’s Managing Director, Ben Davies, of which Davies claims is the “Best achievement of his golfing career to date.” Prizes were also given to the runner up team, the longest drive, nearest the pin and 3-par challenge. Humorous prizes were also handed out for person in the water the most and worst dressed golfer.

Richard Eglon, Marketing Director, Comms-care said about the day “For the fourth year running, the hospitality provided by Celtic Manor throughout the day has been second to none. As always, our partners enjoyed taking on the challenges of the 2010 Ryder Cup course, and sharing their stories in the clubhouse afterwards. This “must attend” event grows bigger and better every year, and with the added extra of having Geoff Swain involved this year, our partners are telling us how they are scheduling their diaries around next year’s event.”
