Comms-care partners experience The Ryder Cup

Comms-care leader in the provision of channel network and IT support services were pleased to welcome their partners to this year’s Comms-care Partner Golf Day held at the prestigious 2010 Ryder Cup course at Celtic Manor for the third year running.

Less than a year after The Ryder Cup took place, the magic and atmosphere still remains with reminders of the day all around the clubhouse. The Samuel Ryder Suite, where the Americans congregated before and after the golf was the room that Comms-care and their partners occupied before and after the golf.

Partners were welcomed with bacon rolls and tea and coffee whilst being introduced to their teams. There was also the opportunity to enjoy the glorious morning sunshine from the 2010 balcony which overlooks the infamous 18th hole. After a meet and greet partners and their teams were escorted to their buggies and taken down to the driving range for a warm up. Luckily golfers didn’t need to keep warm as the weather turned out glorious all day, it was a case of sun cream, hats and plenty of water!

The first team were scheduled to tee off at 11:00 am with ten minute intervals. As expected for a Ryder Cup course, the condition was superb presenting players with a challenging round. A lot of balls were packed into bags to cover the water shots and other challenges the course presented. One lucky player however did get a hole in one on the 7th hole which was one of the highlights of the day.

One of Comms-care’s partners commented on the day: “Thanks very much for the invitation to your superb golf day. We had an excellent time and thoroughly enjoyed the golf and fantastic hospitality alongside."

As players made it round the course, the Comms-care team were applauding golfers from the 2010 clubhouse as they finished on the 18th hole. When players approached the clubhouse a much needed beer was waiting for them followed by a three course dinner and presentations in the Samuel Ryder Suite.

Considering the course was Ryder Cup standard, the scores were pretty impressive. The winners brought in a fantastic score of 93 points which went to Freestyle IT, the winners from the first Partner Golf Day. Prizes were also presented for 2nd place team, longest drive and nearest the pin. A couple of novelty prizes were also awarded for the worst dressed golfer and the person who hit a record number of balls into the water.

Richard Eglon, Marketing Manager at Comms-care commented: “For the third year running Celtic Manor have provided another excellent golf day for us. Everyone enjoyed the golf and the experience of playing on the 2010 course. To top it all the weather was perfect, with golfers only needing to get their sun cream out rather than their waterproofs! The day has certainly become a ‘must attend’ event in our partners calendar and it is always a pleasure to welcome them to such a great golfing venue such as Celtic Manor.”
