Happy Friday Everyone!by Comms-care Colin
October 26, 2012
Well, it’s been another hectic week at Comms-care for everyone!
I’ve been on the road a lot this week putting my engineering skills to good use. I started off the week by heading to Melton Mowbray, unfortunately not for their delightful pies, but to help one of our partner’s end-user customers with a faulty router which wouldn’t allow them to log in. I managed to fix the problem with a replacement router and get the customer back up and running in 2 hours. On heading back up North, our amazing Service Desk asked me to do a quick detour over to Cannock where another of our partner’s end-user customer had a router go down but their line was testing ok. Within an hour of reaching the site, I had replaced the router and reconnected the customer. Job Done!
The rest of the week I carried out fault calls and support calls a little closer to home, taking one of our latest recruits out into the field with me. We visited a partner’s end-user customer in Liverpool who needed 6 desks set up with WYSE terminals. We managed to install the terminals in a couple of hours with our latest recruit picking up some handy tips from me along the way. We then drove down to Wrexham to carry out a health check on a Dell Powervault ML6000, after tightening some screws and the realignment on the arm we closed the call with a very happy customer.
Luckily, for the rest of the week I was drafted into the HQ to help out with some internal mapping issues and some remote work for our partner’s end-user customers, giving me a chance to catch up with everyone after all that travelling.
Being sat on the Service Desk has opened my eyes to the range of calls they have to deal with on a daily basis. From end-user customers having large font issues (he had unknowingly zoomed in on his monitor) to printers printing in the wrong colour to laptops blue screening and hard drive failures. They really do treat every call with the same urgency and professionalism and make sure all of our partner’s end-user customers are happy with their service.
It’s been a long, busy week for me so I’m off to collect my costume ready for our Charity Halloween Scare-day in HQ next week! It’s going to be a spooky one so make sure you check my twitter for pictures of the day!
