Comms-care recently presented a cheque to their chosen charity, The Railway Children for £2,034. The money was raised by Mark Forster, Operations Manager at Comms-care for taking part in the CRN charity fight night on 28th May.
The total amount raised from the fight night was split between two sources - £1,111 was donated to The Railway Children through proceeds from the fight night and the remaining amount was kindly donated by Mark’s friends, family and work colleagues.
Mark, also known as - ‘the Enforcer’ in the ring had undergone months of gruelling training in order to successfully compete at the CRN fight night which resulted in a victory against his fast punching opponent Phil Bell of Westcoast. After battling in the ring for three rounds, the Enforcer deservingly, walked away with the trophy.
Dave Ellis, Corporate Partnerships Manager at The Railway Children comments: “Comms-care has been supporting The Railway Children for about a year now and I can safely say they have been one of the most dedicated companies I have worked with. I would like to thank Mark very much for all his hard work and commitment in raising the money and going ahead with the fight – we have never had anyone get in the boxing ring before for The Railway Children”.
The Railway Children charity has recently had their profile raised through the roof from the success of the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ which touches on some of the key reasons why the charity was set up back in 1995, to help stop the abuse of children living alone and at risk on the streets, through early intervention.
Mark commented on the amount raised: “I’m over the moon with the amount of money we have raised for The Railway Children. It’s much more than I anticipated. A big thank you goes out to all who supported me – friends, family and work colleagues and CRN for organising such a fantastic event – I really did enjoy the training and build up to the fight. I’m now looking forward to a break before I start to look into my next charity driven challenge”.
