Comms-care responds to IT skills shortages through apprenticeship scheme.Comms-care, the leading channel IT support partner, has embarked on an aggressive support engineer recruitment drive by recently enlisting a group of young trainees that it plans to put through its own apprenticeship scheme.

Partnering with leading IT Apprenticeship provider Pearson in Practice, Comms-care hopes this will be the first crop of many apprentices to come through their doors in what they hope is a long term partnership.

The Comms-care apprentices undertake a mix of on-the-job and off-the-job training, providing them with practical and theoretical skills.

Mark Forster, Operations Director at Comms-care, who was part of the recruitment selection process, explains “IT Skills shortages are a constant hot topic in the press and amongst the reseller community.  We are finding that there is an ever increasing dependency on us to provide our channel partners with more and more technical resource whether that is remote diagnosis or physical onsite engineering resource.  The partnership we have formed with Pearson in Practice, along with our other recruitment channels, ensures that as we look to adopt new services we can continue to be a trusted, highly respected support partner to the channel.”

The apprentices will be supported by Comms-care’s most experienced engineers who are highly skilled across many different technology areas. The apprentices will shadow the Comms-care engineers out in the field with the engineers passing on their technical knowledge of the products and ensuring that the high level of customer service that Comms-care prides itself on is adopted by each individual apprentice.

Ben Davies, Managing Director of Comms-care, says on the scheme “The apprentice scheme is a great way for Comms-care to bring young, bright, enthusiastic individuals into the IT industry. Ensuring our partners receive the highest level of support is our most important objective so by training these new engineers under our own roof allows us to instil the core values that our partners have come to expect from us.  It also provides the apprentices with an excellent opportunity to start a prosperous career in IT at a time when many other industry sectors struggle to survive.”

The initial team of apprentices are the first to be trained at Comms-care’s state of the art Knowledge Centre.  In the coming months Comms-care are also looking to provide Cisco CCNA engineering courses at their Knowledge Centre for both their channel partners and their respective clients.
