It’s a dog’s life!by Comms-care Colin
November 23, 2012
Friday is here again and I think I’m just about recovered after last week’s partying!
I’ve spent a lot of this week on our Managed Services desk welcoming our new recruits and showing them the ropes! Managed services is a growing part of the channel and an area a lot of our partners our requesting support in, alongside our other IT support services. Our in-house 24/7 managed services desk is growing month on month with highly skilled engineers providing end-user customers with all levels of software support at the end of the phone. This week, the new starters have been involved in the upgrade of an end-user customer’s software to VMware Vcenter, they assisted in risk analysis, creating a backup plan and implementing the upgrade with minimal disruption to the end-user’s functionality. We have also been introducing them to the customers who currently hold Managed Services contracts, helping them gain an insight in to their requirements and the range of software support we provide to them.
There’s been a buzzword flying round the office this week, Virtualisation! Everyone has been asking what my opinions on virtualisation are and how Comms-care is adopting this into its support services mix.
The launch of 4G in the UK is fantastic news for businesses wanting to move into the virtual desktop environment. Combining the fastest broadband in Europe with BYOD policies means a virtual desktop environment is within grasp of businesses who have long awaited a fast enough connection to securely keep up with their business needs. The requests that Comms-care received for desktop virtualisation are growing week on week, confirming the fact that virtualisation is a buzzword that will last far into 2013. Make sure you keep an eye out in the New Year for Comms-care’s virtualisation services launch, but in the meantime you should check out our latest article on TechBubbles.co.uk on 4G and virtualisation.
Our BYOD survey is soon coming to an end! We’ve had an overwhelming amount of responses to the survey so far, which is fantastic news for all of you resellers out there! The insight we have gained through your responses is going to prove a great read and a great knowledge base to find out what tour customers need in terms of BYOD security. You can still take part in our survey and be in with a chance to win a Kindle Fire HD (just in time for Christmas)!
Some of our fantastic Support Services staff are going to be in the “dog house” tonight, as they are off to Bellevue Dog Track in Manchester as a thank you from the Directors and Senior Management. The Support Services staff go the extra mile for Comms-care and our partners every day, so they deserve to let their hair down for one night! Who knows, I might even join them this evening, if they’re lucky!
