Ingram Micro Accelerate 2017by Joey Ghader
July 10, 2017
Arriving at the airport bright and early on Monday morning Mark Forster, Operations Director, and I were ready to make our way to Alicante. Despite being surrounded by holidaymakers we weren’t heading off on a sunny break; we were attending Accelerate, a joint Cisco and Ingram Micro event focused solely on Cisco technologies.
Meeting our newly appointed Ingram Micro colleague, Scott Murphy, on our arrival in Alicante, the day got off to a smooth start as we jumped in a taxi and made our way to the hotel. When we arrived at the impressive venue it truly hit home how much Comms-care has evolved. The event promised to be an exciting couple of days as we were invited to present our service offering, as part of the Ingram Micro group.
With the conference not properly kicking off until Tuesday morning we had a relaxing start on the first afternoon, with some ‘networking’ around the pool before making our way to the evening drinks reception and dinner.
On Tuesday morning the ‘hard work’ started, with two days of seminars ahead. After some casual networking over breakfast we made our way to the conference which kicked off with a ‘big welcome’ that gave us a key insight into the Cisco/ Ingram Micro relationship; the importance of this event for both companies was immediately clear. The first few seminars were geared around Cisco kit and product, but then Mark entered the stage to discuss our service offering, as part of the Ingram Micro ESS (Elements Support Suite) strategy. Mark’s presentation provided a fantastic opportunity to not only highlight the services we provide to a wider group but also to demonstrate the passion and energy that is so integral to Comms-care’s success. What was great to see was how much the room lit up with enthusiasm for the Comms-care offering, with one audience member remarking, ‘this guy’s good’, a true compliment considering the range of speakers at the event.
As the day progressed various business unit leaders from four different countries led discussions focused around services. Comms-care featured heavily in the presentation from Dan Maynard, Ingram Micro UK; he enthused about our proposition generating a very positive response from the audience. By the end of the day we really felt part of the ‘One Ingram’ team alongside Cisco and our enthusiastic discussions continued as we headed to the evening party (and what a party it was!).
Day two of seminars was mostly centred on product and the Cisco / Ingram Micro interaction. We stayed for the first few sessions before it was time to head to the airport for our flight back home.
On reflection there are two things that stand out for me from this experience. Firstly, the vast size of Ingram Micro. Secondly, the important role Comms-care plays in the direction of the wider group. There is real opportunity for Comms-care to make a difference in the future, not only in the UK, but throughout Europe too and I hope we continue to be a vital feature of future Accelerate events.
