17 unforgettable moments of 2017by Comms-care
December 28, 2017
The start of a new year not only prompts many of us to make resolutions for the future but also to reflect on the past year gone by. What was good, what wasn’t so good and most importantly what can we learn from the past 12 months? As we take a look back on 2017 we can truly say it was another remarkable year at Comms-care from celebrating our 15th anniversary to launching some exciting and vital new services to the market.
Here’s our round up of the top 17 unforgettable moments of 2017. We wish all our valued partners continued success in 2018 and beyond!
1. Microsoft Surface Services and Support
We kicked off January with an exciting launch of a new set of services for UK enterprises in collaboration with Microsoft to provide support across its Surface tablet range.
2. FLEX Software Support
Designed to provide remote software support to organisations, on a reactive or ad hoc basis, in April Comms-care launched a new tiered FLEX Software Support services portfolio. The service enables channel partners to help their customers keep IT systems operating normally when internal resources are stretched or depleted.
3. Configuration Services
April proved a busy month for us as we also launched our enhanced set of configuration services, encompassing hardware and software. Operating from a dedicated 4,000 square foot space in Ingram Micro’s Logistics and Distribution Centre, the space is large enough for a team of engineers to work on multiple shipments on behalf of channel partners.
4. CRN Fight Night success – again!
Can we be defeated? It seems not… This year our contender, James “The Hitman” O’Reilly made fight night history by leading Comms-care to victory for the TENTH fight in a row! What a record!
5. Cyber security hit the headlines
In May the global ransomware attack Wannacry affected over 200,000 companies across more than 150 countries, hitting headlines across the world. Declared as one of the largest attacks in history, the outbreak claimed some high profile victims such as the NHS, making an example of large-scale organisations and exploiting out-of-date and unsupported operating systems.
6. Apprenticeship success
It’s been another great year for growing our team as we have welcomed lots of new people to Comms-care; in particular we were delighted to see the progress of our apprenticeship scheme. In 2017 two of our apprentices completed their apprenticeships and took up full-time positions within our Service Desk team as a result; we also took on five new apprentices during the year in roles across the business with another two offers made in late December! Apprentices are definitely an integral part of our team and the future of Comms-care and we are looking to add even more talent in 2018.
7. Maintaining our high ISO standards
Remaining at the forefront of the industry, this year we have achieved recertification by LRQA for a range of our ISO standards, including ISO 22301 (Business Continuity), ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 27001 (Information Security Management) and ISO 20000 (IT Service Management).
8. Cisco Gold Partner for 10 years
After an independent audit covering all aspects of the services Comms-care provides to support Cisco systems, it was deemed that we were among the best in the industry and that our systems and methodologies were ‘world class’.
9. Digital transformation
This year the trend of businesses moving to the Cloud became even more fundamental to the growing pace of digital transformation. As demand increases, Comms-care is constantly developing and expanding its portfolio to encompass new technologies and meet the ever-changing demands of the IT channel marketplace.
10. Vendor conferences aplenty
This year we attended some exciting industry events in some far-flung places. Highlights included the Cisco Partner Summit and Microsoft Inspire, where Satya Nadella launched Microsoft 365 and discussed the huge opportunity GDPR represents for European partners.
11. Shortlisted for two CRN awards
In June Comms-care was shortlisted for ‘Best Account Management Team’ at the CRN Sales & Marketing Awards 2017. This was followed by another shortlisting for ‘Channel Service Provider of the Year’ at the CRN UK Channel Awards in November. Comms-care was delighted to sponsor both prestigious events which were great successes and presented fantastic opportunities for the Comms-care team to network with channel partners.
Becoming enforceable from May 2018, many businesses are yet to consider their approach to GPDR-readiness. Recognising this, Comms-care has partnered with Xcina Consulting to offer a comprehensive GDPR solution to assist resellers in helping their end users adopt a defensible position. We can now support companies at every stage of their journey, from data mapping exercises and gap analysis right through to training and awareness for staff at all levels.
13. World Quality Day
Comms-care has been recognising World Quality Day since 2013. This year we celebrated the theme of ‘Everyday Leadership’ by opening up discussions on building a perfect leader. Leadership is at the heart of our Quality Management System, especially following our adoption of ISO 9001:2015 earlier this year, so this was an excellent opportunity to reinforce this important subject across the business.
14. 1 year as an Ingram Micro company
In May we celebrated one year as an Ingram Micro company and this November, our 19th month since our acquisition, we saw the 19th straight month in which we achieved our targets, demonstrating our capability and growth potential as an Ingram Micro company.
15. Top VARs 2017
Once again, Comms-care rounded off the year by sponsoring the CRN Top VARs report, the annual publication that assesses the trends and issues facing the industry. We are proud to sponsor this important industry publication which also looks ahead to 2018 and analyses the trends that resellers, distributors and suppliers can expect to see.
16. A year of charity
This year we supported four charity days – Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, British Heart Foundation’s Wear It Beat It, Macmillan’s Coffee Morning & Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day – all to celebrate our 15th anniversary! From bake sales to fancy dress, we didn’t just have lots of office fun but we raised over £500 for these fantastic causes!
17. Happy 15th birthday to Comms-care!
Wow! This year Comms-care celebrated its 15th anniversary! A lot has changed from 2002, when the 2nd Gen iPod was the height of technological advancements and Comms-care operated from a small office in Brighouse. We now have a network of over 150 engineers and deliver a range of services to over 850 channel partners, making us the single channel-only service provider in the market!
